“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation.” (1 Peter 2:2)
Any mama is familiar with the way that a baby longs for milk. Milk is their life, their only means of sustenance, and when they don’t have it and want it, they ensure that their need is made known. Sometimes at 2:00 in the morning.
The Bible tells us to be like babies in many ways. One of those ways is in our longing for pure spiritual milk. The way that babies grow is through drinking milk. The way that believers grow is by “drinking” the gospel. We must be like babies in the way that we long for the truths of the gospel. It is by these – and by these alone – that we grow up into maturity.
